French native, Australian adopted artist, love with colours began at a very young age. Around three to four years old, in class, I discovered that an easel, a simple piece of paper and some gouache could open my world like widows where I could create the view. My joy was at its peak, another world was open. I stepped in, keeping forever this power to escape, to create, to connect with the unknown.

I grew up in Champagne crayeuse (chalk) where it is easy to find natural white chalk and clay. This material, found in the bush was my first experiment to create my first colours. Then I moved to Paris where my parents gave me a total ‘carte blanche’ to go and explore as many galleries and museums I wanted to. I explored

and discovered master pieces from my teenager eyes and heart in total freedom. Very early, I travelled in Europe and enjoyed even more artists creations. I was only 13 when I discovered the huge ‘Guernica’ In Madrid. It was a revelation: art can be political. I kept travelling and landed in Australia in 1999, in Moree. The cultural shock was enormous and full of lessons. I met aboriginal women artists, Paula Duncan in particular, who invited me to crush ochre and paint on material. We connected so deeply, I was back into childhood, playing with clays and pigments but I was so far from my original country. What a universal connection with the earth and its humble inhabitants. Today, I keep working with ochre, some from the country where I was born and I grew up, and some from my adopted country where I keep growing.
